Argentina has the third largest electricity market in Latin America, and the electrification rate across the country has reached 100%. Argentina’s electricity market is relatively fragmented. Most of the market share is owned by governments and private companies, with the transmission industry dominated by Transener and six other regional transmission companies. Argentina’s domestic power grid coverage reaches 96.4%, basically ensuring that every household has electricity. Currently, the highest voltage level of Argentina’s power grid is 500KV AC. Argentina's power transmission system is divided into: 500KV high-voltage transmission system (STEEAT) for inter-regional interconnection; and 220/132KV regional transmission system (STEEEDT) for connecting regional power generation, distribution departments and large users.
